| Yes! Study reports good news about candy
Is it true that there's a study to prove almost anything? We can't say, but this is one study many of us will choose to believe. Reported in the British Medical Journal, a large-scale study of men who entered Harvard University between 1916 and 1950 shows that those who ate candy lived almost a year longer, on average, than those who ate no candy at all. The benefits were greatest for those who ate candy one to three times a month, and lessened as consumption increased. But men who ate sweets several times a week still had lower mortality than those who ate none. Researchers accounted for patients' general diet, habits such as smoking, and level of physical activity. The study did not distinguish between chocolate and other candy. |
