    Easy activities bring grandkids closer to you

            It can be easy and fun to get to know your grandchildren better, and the activities don't have to take a lot of time, money, or physical effort. In her book Grandloving, Sue Johnson says:
            * Record bedtime stories on tapes for kids to play before going to sleep.
            * Send postcards and souvenirs.
            * Show old home movies and tell stories about their parent's childhood.
            * Have them videotape you talking about family history and your life.
            * Write a story together over the Internet.
            * Teach them how to dance.
            * Play dress up and have a tea party.
            * Cook together and make a recipe book of your favorites.
            * Lie on a blanket and describe to each other what the clouds look like.
            * Fly a kite.
        Grandparents play an important part in children's lives, whether they live near or far.
