Chocolate
Chocolate "Pear-fection"
(NAPSI)-It's hard to go wrong with chocolate! There are few other foods that evoke the response it does and what better way to indulge in America's favorite flavor than with the addition of pears? Their fruity flavor and texture compliments the smooth richness of chocolate. Pear Chocolate Silk Pie, an easy-to-make dessert featuring canned pears from the Pacific Northwest will impress friends and family alike.
Canned Bartlett pears from the Pacific Northwest are a nutritious pantry staple. Canning is a natural process and Bartlett pears, unlike other canned fruit, retain their flavor, shape, texture and color. The FDA has ruled that some canned fruits and vegetables like pears may be labeled "healthy." Fresh fruits and vegetables lose valuable nutrients as they travel from fields to store shelves, whereas canning seals in these nutrients. This FDA study is great news for cooks who want their families to enjoy fruit all year-round.
Pear Chocolate Silk Pie uses convenient canned pears to enhance a luscious chocolate mousse pie. It's the perfect dessert for busy cooks who want to whip up a special treat. Using a ready-made pie shell saves time and the filling is a breeze-just fold whipped cream into a melted chocolate mixture. What's more, the recipe can easily be doubled or even tripled, depending on
the size of your party. This sophisticated dessert is best made ahead of time. It can be stored in the refrigerator for several days or even frozen, so it can be ready at a moment's notice, making it a '‘pear-fect' recipe for family get togethers.
